Clinic Owner's Rate Support From The Government At 2/10

"As owners we are paying 90-100% of clinic income to support it & patient care. We are close to shutting the doors, which will result in 4800 patients in our area being orphaned and doctors with no place to practice. As a clinic in rural Alberta, we are a

big employer for the community and hospital so have tried to do the right thing." -APCCOA Member

Key Metrics of Our Member Survey

How would you rate the overall operational health of your clinic?

Our members rate their clinic operational health at a

4 out of 10

92% Of Clinics Have Financial Issues

Rising costs and doctor shortages forced clinic owners to subsidize operations and cut personal expenses to stay open.

80/20 Splits Are Unsustainable

Rising costs and tighter margins have forced many to adopt unsustainable splits, leading to clinic closures.

75%

75% of clinics have compensation issues.

Medical clinics in Alberta face severe financial challenges, with physicians demanding higher revenue splits and operational costs outpacing income. Many clinics cannot afford to pay staff raises or benefits, relying on owners and their families to handle tasks like bookkeeping, cleaning, and IT to cut expenses. Clinics offering lower overhead rates attract physicians but often close within months due to unsustainable cash flow, creating a cycle of instability in the healthcare system.
